“What is it that when you do it, causes you to lose track of time and get lost in it? What do you do that makes you think “I could do this forever” What is it that causes you to think, “I was made for this”. What do you love to do now that will go on in the age to come”… I like this quotation by Rob Bell, this is what I call partnering and communicating with God, understanding “Heaven on Earth” as a place of increasingly expansive expressions and dimensions of creativity, beauty, and design. So, if you love doing what you are doing, keep doing it and let nothing stand in your way. Believe, and it will be so for you, what you believe about the future determines how you live today.
The concept of “Millennium Reign Imaging” was birthed in me a few years ago not knowing at that stage how this would develop as a platform to show my work and make it more meaningful to people viewing my images, and, to relate to them on a deeper level. Carefully and with purpose I am in the process of developing this site, quotations spoken by others besides my own, also I thought, would be a way to combine my work with words that inspire and bring light and life into our lives.
Awakening the Dawn
Scriptures promise that if we seek Him, we will find Him, Proverbs 8:17. Fasting a bit of slumber, allows God’s transforming power to work an “awakening” within those who answer the call. As we respond, the task becomes easier, the insights brighter, the revelation stronger, the Word more empowering. The world is in great need of “spiritual muscle” to grow, exercise and stand the watches. In the night hours, as we respond to the call, the light and power of His Presence penetrates us, and we emerge stronger, more focused than before.
There is a company of people that see something more then just dying and making it to Heaven, we begin as high as we can get, but not as deep. Depth is a journey…if in this journey we seek the Lord for His sake alone, if we long to know Him as He knows us, then He will draw near to us in startling reality.
The Look of Love
I Noticed this beautiful succulent cactus plant one morning on my hike in the Karoo desert, so beautiful yet full of little thorns. The cactus plant symbolises endurance, it endures the intense heat of the desert and survives, blossoming and flowering it keeps on growing. Not unlike people who survive the heat of life’s furnace and die a little too themselves. I think maybe we die every day. Maybe we’re born new each dawn, a little changed, a little further on our own road. When enough days stand between you and the person you were, you’re strangers. Maybe that’s what growing up is. Maybe I have grown up.”
Purity and Faith
Two things will cause you to leap out of yourselves into the great promises of God. One is purity, the other is faith. God has no room for the man who looks back, thinks back, or acts back. – Smith Wigglesworth –
My very first photograph ever taken on the streets of Johannesburg, a borrowed nikon and lots of determination. The year was 1973, and little did I know what was to follow….
May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children – Rainer Maria Rilke
The Perfect Storm
“The beauty of being shattered is how the shards become our character and our marks of distinction. This is how we are refined by our pain. When the storm rips you to pieces, you get to decide how to put yourself back together again. The storm gives us the gift of our defining choices. You will be a different person after the storm, because the storm will heal you from your perfection. People who stay perfect and unblemished never really get to live fully or deeply. You will not be the same after the storms of life; you will be stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before!” ― Bryant McGill
Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.” ― Mark Z. Danielewski
Dreaming with God unlocks deep reservoirs of creativity in each and every person, in different areas of gifting and talent. But in too many sectors of the church, creativity is on lockdown because people fear their desires and dreams. Religion, cruel and boring, bottles up the creative impulse God has put inside of every person. Each of us has a right and responsibility to express ourselves creatively in whatever area of life interests us. Yet so many of us have the horrible habit of doing things the way they have always been done, for reasons of fear and safety. We’re descendants of the Creator and yet we stick with old tired methods. We ask God to do a new thing through us, but expect Him to do it in a familiar way…. -Bill Johnson
My passion for creating beautiful images has surpassed my need to be a good photographer, that is not my focus any longer, my focus now is how can I make this more expressive and how can I create more of a dimension in order for that image to speak or have an impact on someone in a positive and transforming/healing way. That fleeting moment in time of just the right lighting is always something I look for when I am out there photographing, but not always available when I would like it to be. I like my images to be bold and detailed, so with my love for creating something meaningful, it then becomes an act of worship.
“When you allow yourself to remember that you truly are a multidimensional being, you will begin experiencing yourself in a much more expanded way. What previously was believed to be supernatural becomes natural. Then you come to a realisation that now you can see what has always been there yet it remained hidden to you who chose to see something else.” ― Raphael Zernoff
Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.” – Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace from Christ rule and act as umpire continually in your hearts …
Trust is never out there. The soul essence that we call trust resides within you. Trust is a decision. It is a reflection of what you have decided to believe.Trust is not about being comfortable. It is about being willing to move beyond your comfort zone when there is absolutely no evidence that you will be supported.Trust is not about looking for evidence that you are doing things right every step of the way as you move toward the end result. Trust is about keeping the end result in mind no matter what steps you have to take to get there, or how bad you feel while you are stepping. Trust is not about the work you have to do in life being easy or having other people support you in getting through the work. It is about your ability to do the hard work without losing sight of why you are doing it, when other people try to convince you that you should be doing something else. Trust is not about getting something back for the work you do as a sign that you are doing the right thing. It is your ability to keep doing the work even when it looks like there is nothing coming back. Think of it this way. Trust is based on your ability to stand your ground, knowing that no matter what happens, you will be better off than you were in the beginning. Anything less than this is not trust.
I don’t see the desert as barren at all; I see it as full and ripe. It doesn’t need to be flattered with rain. It certainly needs rain, but it does with what it has, and creates amazing beauty. -Joy Harjo
I found this paper nautilus shell on one of my walks on the beach, took a photo of it and created this image. It reminded me of the stages of growth we experience on our spiritual journey. In order to begin a new stage in our lives, we have to think “outside the box.” Yet, every time we abandon an old worldview for a new and wider vision, we merely find ourselves in a larger box. And while each box serves its particular function for a time, we are always in danger of claiming that the chamber we currently occupy is the ultimate one. The spiral shape of this shell suggests that it can keep growing forever. There is no design for a “final” chamber. The creature must keep building new chambers as long as it lives. It cannot go back to the previous ones; they no longer fit. It cannot stay in its present chamber or it will die. It has no choice but to move on. And on. In Christ we are always changing and expanding, it is religion that holds us captive in those chambers.
Fields of Dreams
We all walk onto the fields of creation on level ground. Rich or poor, white or black, male or female, allegedly brilliant or certifiably, um, challenged. You bring to that level ground the one thing I do not have – your own unique experience. Your own story. Your own parcel of things seen, and heard, and loved and lost, and you have experienced what it means to be human in a way that I have not. And from that place you will speak to me about that and teach me new things, show me new light that might just work on my particular darkness in a way my own light does not. You will show me new ideas and new beauty and new solutions to my problems. And, if this all works that way I believe it can, we’ll both become richer, deeper, and more human for it. I need you. We all do. – David duChemin
Backdoor to Heaven
“Be sure that the ins and outs of your individuality are no mystery to Him; and one day they will no longer be a mystery to you…God will look to every soul like its first love because He is its first love. Your place in heaven will seem to be made for you and you alone, because you were made for it–made for it stitch by stitch as a glove is made for a hand.” ― C.S. Lewis
This image was taken on a trip into Namibia, we drove through some fascinating landscapes, and one of them inspired me to create this scene…a moment of His presence and Glory. Today, look for the moments. The writing in the sky. The breeze upon your cheek. The flower pushing its way through concrete. Expect the unexpected. Let yourself be romanced by a sudden glory moment from God.
Rooted and Grounded in His Love
Embracing the privilege of creative expression is consistent with being made in the image and likeness of our creator. I love it when he gives me fresh revelation and renewed inspiration that tells me of his unrelenting love for me and it causes me to never ever give up!
Door Into Eternity
Creativity isn’t about doing it right or wrong. Impose all the constraints you want on yourself; that can help your creativity. But beware the voices from outside with their formulas, prescriptions, and rules. No one but you knows what you’re trying to do, or the path you’ve chosen to get there. Be open to the possibility that there are better ways, that the things we did yesterday may not serve us today. Be willing to learn, and to fall down. But as failure is so often our best teacher, don’t let anyone dissuade you from “doing it wrong.” Because it’s only in risking the possibility of getting it “wrong” that we draw close to getting it awesome. I’ve come to believe that most people equate different with wrong. Don’t let FODIW (fear of doing it wrong. I just made that up.) stop you from doing it differently, it’s the only thing that’ll keep you moving forward and keep us all from the homogeny that threatens to suffocate our creativity and joy. – David duChemin
The Bateleur (Warrior Eagle)
“Problems help us to become brilliant. We are warriors, we’re not afraid of anything! I don’t want an easy life. I want a brilliant one! I want an amazing one! I want an astonishing one! I want to see and I want to taste the powers of the age to come. I want to see Heaven on Earth! I don’t want some piddling Christian experience. I want something even better!” – Graham Cooke
“Aliveness, is a gift available to all by God’s grace. It flows not from taking, but giving, not from fear but from faith, not from conflict but from reconciliation, not from domination but from service. It isn’t found in the upper trappings of religion -rules and rituals, controversies and scruples, temples and traditions. No, it springs up from our innermost being like a fountain of living water. It intoxicates us like the best wine ever and so turns life from disappointment into a banquet.” ― Brian D. McLaren
“When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen….There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly.” ~ Patrick Overton
“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.” ― J.M. Barrie
“We are not here to be earthbound in our spirituality. We’re not here to have the world dictate to us how we can see and how we can think. God is setting us free to think from a place above, to set our mind on things above, not on things on the Earth, to actually be raised up so that we can actually connect with Him in spiritual places.” – Graham Cooke
There is an unexpected mysterious presence who meets each of us in our lowest moments when we have no strength when we have nothing left and we can’t go on we hear the voice that speaks those words destroy this temple and I’ll rebuild it do you believe this? that’s the question Jesus asked then and that’s the question he asks now Everybody believes something everybody believes somebody Jesus invites us to trust resurrection that every glimmer of good every hint of hope every impulse that elevates the soul is a sign, a taste, a glimpse of how things actually are and how things will ultimately be resurrection affirms this life and the next as a seamless reality embraced graced and saved by God. ~ Rob Bell
A Golden Moment
Nothing compares to the warm promise of the sun who asks not for who it shines, it just shines. – Valerie Millett
The Magic of Africa
The fact of your birth, the same as every human on this planet, gives you permission to live, as much as possible, on your terms. To live out loud. To colour outside the lines. To know what you want to create, and how, and to do so with joy and purpose. – David duChemin
“Each time a person passes by you and you say ‘hello’, imagine that person turning into a candle. The more positivity, love and light you reflect, the more light is mirrored your way. Sharing beautiful hellos is the quickest way to earn spiritual brownie points. You should start seeing hellos as small declarations of faith. Every time you say hello to a stranger, your heart acknowledges over and over again that we are all family.”
― Suzy Kassem
“If you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality.” ― Roopleen
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living, I want to know what you ache for, and if you dream of meeting your heart’s longing.” ~ Oriah
“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.” ― William Blake
His eye is on the Sparrow
I’m pondering this truth again… The measure of a man is the measure of his love. I want to live in love, Love Divine not the fading kind. – Misty Edwards
Wild and Beautiful
“I am not interested in having the world revolve around me; that’s too boring of an idea. I would rather revolve around the world and try to leave my fingerprints, everywhere. My fingerprints mingled in with all the other fingerprints and all the laughter and all the beautiful things like gratitude, grace, faithfulness and flowers.” ― C. JoyBell C.
“The enemy plotted against you and awaited your downfall. Look at you surviving. And your enemies can not figure out how. What you have inside is greater than any negative force.” ― Amaka Imani Nkosazana
“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better.” ― C. JoyBell C.
“When you draw on God’s grace to put off your self-centered attitudes and act on His principles, you put His glory on display. Your life points to His vast wisdom, compassion, and transforming power, and as you look for God’s glory, the impact reaches far beyond yourself because you give everyone around you reason to respect and praise God. Glorifying God is not about letting others see how great you are. It’s about letting them see how great the Lord is.” ― Ken Sande
Change of Seasons
“With the change of the seasons, God reminds us that darkness always ends. Light always exists and will always return when missing. There is no night that doesn’t end. No nightmare from which you cannot awaken. No hurt that cannot heal.” ― Sharon Bayliss
“Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life.” ― John Lubbock
True wisdom comes from above and is given by divine revelation to those who are teachable and humble before God…
In Another World
“She was always daydreaming. She never wanted to live in the real world; she always seemed to be separated from other children her age. They couldn’t understand her or her imagination. She was always thinking outside of the box, breaking rules, and only following what her heart told her was right.” ― Shannon A. Thompson
“Nature has been for me, for as long as I remember, a source of solace, inspiration, adventure, and delight; a home, a teacher, a companion.” ― Lorraine Anderson
“Love is made up of three unconditional properties in equal measure: 1. Acceptance 2. Understanding 3. Appreciation. Remove any one of the three and the triangle falls apart. Which, by the way, is something highly inadvisable. Think about it — do you really want to live in a world of only two dimensions? So, for the love of a triangle, please keep love whole.” ― Vera Nazarian
The Lotus Flower is one of the earliest and most spiritually meaningful symbols ever. The blossoming Lotus Flower ascends above the murky water to unveil its glorious petals. Late in the evening the petals close and withdraw beneath the surface, then at daybreak, the flower again lifts up to the sky and unfolds its majestic crown. This flower represents the virtue of the soul, purity of the heart, and an intellect firmly established on divine ideals. The ideals of prosperity, character, well-being, and longevity are often symbolized by the Lotus Flower.
In the beginning we were there, for God possessed us even before he created the universe. From eternity past we were set in place, before the world began. We were anointed from the beginning. Before the oceans depths were poured out, and before there were any glorious fountains overflowing with water, we were there, dancing! Even before one mountain had been sculpted or one hill raised up, we were already there, dancing! When he created the earth, the fields, even the first atom of dust, we were already there. When he hung the tapestry of the heavens and stretched out the horizon of the earth, When the clouds and skies were set in place and the subterranean fountains began to flow strong, we were already there. When he set in place the pillars of the earth and spoke the decrees of the seas, commanding the waves so that they wouldn’t overstep their boundaries, we were there, close to the Creator’s side as his master artists. Daily he was filled with delight in us as we playfully rejoiced before him. We laughed and played, so happy with what he had made, while finding our delight in the children of men.
